Pitlochry
Fresh air, stunning scenery & amazing walks
The first thing you’ll notice in Pitlochry is the air, it doesn’t get any fresher, take a deep breath and relax in the heart of Scotland. Come and experience real hospitality, stunning scenery, mountain walks, Scottish Clan history and fabulous pubs and restaurants.
With some much too see to do around Pitlochry, we’ve included just a few ideas that are within easy walking distance of the Lodge. For more ideas we recommend visit Scotland, or just walk over the road to the Tourist Information Centre!
Ben Vrackie
You can usually see (on a clear day) Ben Vrackie from the upstairs bedrooms at Buttonboss Lodge, the mountain provides an amazing backdrop to the town.
It’s the most spectacular walk from the village of Moulin which is approximately 15min walk from the lodge. From there you follow the 6 mile path to the summit. The path is well-constructed for most of the route, you may be lucky enough to see Grouse, mountain Hare and deer along the way.
As with all mountain walking the weather and temperature changes the higher you climb, always be prepared.
Circular Walk
The Dam, Salmon Ladder, Ice Cream & Beer
Next to the rear of the Car Park is a safe crossing over the railway line, once over turn right, then left down to the recreational ground. Cross over the swing bridge and turn right, head towards the dam, you can’t really miss it! Once you’re at the Dam you can venture passed the Salmon ladder, if you’re lucky enough you’ll see them climbing! Once you’re over the other side following the signs to the town centre where you’ll find some fabulous ice creams shops and some lovely pubs.
Blair Athol Distillery
Turn right from Buttonboss Lodge and following the road, it’s approximately 10mins from the door. Blair Athol Distillery offers tours where you can taste the wonderful whiskies distilled here in Pitlochry, using the ancient source of water from the Grampian mountains.
